Kosovo urged to think well about opening an embassy in Jerusalem
British Ambassador to Kosovo Nicholas Abbott on September 24 urged Kosovo to think well before opening an embassy in Jerusalem. Kosovo news agency Klan Kosova quoted the ambassador as saying: Since negotiations are still ongoing, I think it would be better for our council to think longer. I would not advise Kosovo to open an embassy in Jerusalem, this is not our position on this issue Nicholas Abbott. The British diplomat emphasized that for his country the status of Jerusalem will depend on the outcome of negotiations between Israel and Palestine. We understand that such things take time. According to our expectations, the status of Jerusalem should be approved by both sides and we expect it to become the capital for both sides. At the moment, the British embassy is located in Tel Aviv and we do not plan to move it. Nicholas Abbott Recall, on September 4, after a meeting of the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia in Washington, mediated by US President Donald Trump, Kosovo and Israel made statements of mutual recognition. In accordance with the Washington Agreements on the normalization of economic relations between Kosovo and Serbia, Kosovo undertakes to open an embassy in Jerusalem, which caused discontent in the EU and the countries of the Muslim world.
